Bringing Rome to the Classroom is Possible with AR !

Ahoy, my dear friends ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘‹! This week you will read something really interesting and popular on those days๐Ÿ˜. Can you guess what it is? If you said teaching English with AR, you’re absolutely right! In this post, I will introduce you to our AR-integrated teaching material. With new developments in technology, especially in the field of augmented reality (AR), it is possible to visit a place without even going there ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Imagine being able to explore the pyramids of Egypt, walk the streets of London, or even visit the surface of Mars, all from the comfort of your classroom✈. Thanks to AR technology, students are no longer limited to textbooks or videos; they can interact with virtual objects, visit virtual environments, and even interact with real-world locations in ways previously unimaginable ๐Ÿ˜‰Thanks to AR, we go beyond the boundaries of traditional teaching methods and enable students to experience English more dynamically and practically. The future of language learning is here, and it's as exciting as it is educational!๐Ÿ”ฎ

Our AR teaching material takes you on a virtual journey to the most famous spots in Rome. Visit the Colosseum, marvel at the beauty of the Trevi Fountain, discover magnificent works of art at the Museo Chiaramonti, and even learn how to make Cacio e Pepe, a classic Italian dish. A fun and easy way to improve your English while discovering the history, art and culture of Rome! We used Canva for the worksheets. Finally, I would like to thank my dear friends Nisa Elmas, YaฤŸmur Kavak, and Polat ร–ztรผrk. Thanks, team! You are truly the best teammates anyone could ask for ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–. As always, until next time, keep smiling and stay tuned for more edutainment ๐Ÿ˜‰. Cheer!๐Ÿ˜„

"Revolutionizing Learning: Our Flipped Classroom Journey"

Ahoy my dear readers✋๐Ÿ˜ƒIn this week's post you will learn about flipped classroom approach. The flipped classroom approach is an innovative teaching method where students interact with instructional content such as videos or readings at home and use class time for interactive activities ๐Ÿ˜€. This method shifts the focus from passive to active learning, allowing students to explore concepts in depth during lessons. It can encourage speaking practice and collaboration in language classes, but it can create challenges for students who don’t have access to technology or who struggle with self-discipline. ๐Ÿ˜•

For our flipped classroom project, we created an video to teach tag questions. Our video combines an informative lesson with an interactive quiz designed to reinforce key concepts. Our primary goal is to create an engaging and accessible learning experience for all audiences ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

The process was not easy. Initially, we had a hard time choosing a suitable tool for video creation. After testing several options, we chose "shotcut"  which offers user-friendly features and templates ✅. The division of labor was easy. We solved it with clear communication: two of us explained the topic and the other two went over the examples.

While creating the video, we used the screen recording feature of our own devices and recorded our voice with a voice recorder, then we were able to combine the image and audio seamlessly with "shotcut". This tool is essential in bringing your ideas to life. You can check it out from here.

The videos are now available on our blog! Click here to watch it. Watch the videos to discover our flipped classroom project and see how this approach can transform language learning! I also want to thank my friends Nisa Elmas, YaฤŸmur Kavak and Polat ร–ztรผrk. You were excellent guys ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š.

As always, until next time, keep smiling and stay tuned for more edutainment ๐Ÿ˜‰. Cheer!๐Ÿ˜„

Exploring Language with Corpus Linguistics: A Fun and Engaging Approach for Teachers and Students

Ahoy my dear readers✋๐Ÿ˜ƒ. We're back together again with an exciting new topic: Corpus Linguistics! Whether you're a teacher or a student, I'm sure you’ll find it both engaging and enjoyable. Corpus Linguistics is the study of language using large collections of real-life texts, like books, articles, and conversations. By looking at these texts with special computer tools, we can find out how words are used and what language patterns exist. This helps us understand how people really use language, not just how it's taught in theory ๐Ÿ˜Ž. It’s useful for both teachers and students to learn more about how language works in everyday life.

My friends (Nisa Elmas & YaฤŸmur Kavak ๐Ÿ’œ) and I have prepared a worksheet for you. In this worksheet, there is a Discovery section where students can explore and understand the rules of Corpus Linguistics inductively, by observing real-life examples. Don't worry!๐Ÿ˜ƒ We've also included instructions on how you can use corpus as a tool. It's a great resource for both teachers and students. You'll understand what I mean better once you take a look at the worksheet. Click here to check it out.๐Ÿ‘€ We also prepare a lesson plan by using ASSURE model which is designed for integrating technology effectively to your lesson as a teacher. Click here to check it out too.

It was an invaluable experience for me to learn how to use the corpus to enhance my teaching. Moreover, learning how to integrate authentic materials in such an easy way is very precious. We also used Canva for the worksheet templates. It was a really enjoyable experience, both designing the materials and preparing the activities.

As always, until next time, keep smiling and stay tuned for more edutainment ๐Ÿ˜‰. Cheer!๐Ÿ˜„
