Interview with "AI Malala" (?)

 Ahoy, my dear friends 😃👋! In this week's post you will learn about the use of artificial intelligence. As you know, artificial intelligence is an indispensable part of our lives, and as a result, although it is not surprising, knowing how to use it efficiently has become important. As with most things, it has both negative and positive aspects. However, if we know how to use it effectively, I think its positive side will outweigh its negative side.✌ You can also use artificial intelligence for a task that is both educational and entertaining. We used Magic School AI with my friend Meryem Kasap and interviewed with a name we chose. 😊

Now I will explain the order of the task we follow:

- We chose a character on "Character Chatbot" (it was Malala Yousafzai)

- Then, we asked her a few questions as if we were doing an interview

- We summarize this interview and wrote a report about it in report part we again used "Student Work Feedback" part for our report

- We used the feedback to improve our task

Again, it wasn't a very difficult task and I had a lot of fun doing it. I also think it will be very productive if used in education at the right place and time. The platform is not very complicated, in fact it is very easy.  It is also designed to encourage and motivate students. I will do a more detailed review when I have more time and I definitely recommend that you take a look.

The Film Review of "Shutter Island"

  Ahoy, my friends 😃👋! In this week's post, I will talk about what film review is and its process. This week, my friends Nisa and Yağmur and I wrote a film review about an excellent movie called Shutter Island. We used GOOGLE DOCS while preparing it.  Honestly, it's an excellent tool to use for collaborative tasks. It is both easy to use and effective. I hope you find it useful after reading this post✌. 

  Writing a film review allows you to express your thoughts about a movie and helps readers decide whether they want to watch the movie. In this assignment, we acted as if we were writing for the university magazine.I shared the link with my friends and made them editors.  This way we were all able to write on the same page at the same time. We then opened our page to our peers and made them "commenters". They were able to add their comments about our review, and we did the same. It was an interesting experience for me, not too challenging 😉. Here is a photo from our page.

  I think Shutter Island is one of the must-see movies. Not just because of the story, but also because of Leonardo DiCaprio 😍. We tried to write a film review that will encourage you to watch it. I won't talk about the story of the movie in detail, but you should definitely watch it. Even though I had watched it before, it still fascinated me when I watched it again for review. There is no need for more words, I am sharing the trailer here again, after reading the review, the decision is yours 😎. I promise you won't regret watching it, but you should read the review before watching it. "How I Overcame Challenges: A Digital Story 😅 "

 

Ahoy, my friends 😃👋! I hope that you're fine. It's been a long time since we saw each other. I miss writing a blog for you guys :) Did you miss reading my blogs? 😃 This week, we prepared a digital story for you with my dear friend Hayrünnisa Azbay 💖.

First of all, I would like to talk a little bit about what a digital story means. A digital story is a narrative that combines text, images, audio, and video using digital tools such as computers and cameras for an engaging storytelling experience. 

We had three options, but we chose the most feasible one for us 😉 , and that was to create a fictional story. To tell you the truth, when I first start preparing these I always say "This is the hardest thing I've ever encountered!" and eventually I say "Hah! It wasn't that hard actually" but this time.... 😨. DUUUDEE!!! IT WAS HARD. Let's face it, the hardest part was deciding which application we should use and trying to understand how this application works. Thanks to my friend, we were able to prepare it on time, otherwise I would have had to work hard. Thanks a lot Nisa 😍. We found our story by brainstorming. We used "Pixton" to create a digital story. Unfortunately, we couldn't do our best because we had to pay for some features of the app and we didn't. This created limitations for us.

A Fun-Filled Experience!

Ahoy, dear readers 😃👋! Welcome back to my post. This week, I'm here again with a different post. But I'm sure you're familiar with this one. My friend and I prepared a podcast for you. And we used https://vocaroo.com/ to prepare it. In this post, you will read our podcast production process. We prepared a sound-rich story. I actually had a lot of fun. To be honest, this was also thanks to my peer Meryem Kasap :). She is a very understanding and harmonious person ❤. I can give such tasks to my students.

Creating a podcast may not require climbing Mount Everest, but let's not pretend it's a walk in the park either! Not exactly easy peasy lemon squeezy 😬. One of the most challenging aspects for us is finding an interesting story. However, we managed to overcome this problem by brainstorming. The other challenging part was adding the sounds. Finding the right voices for the right action was very tiring. We had a time limit due to our duties, so we tried to keep our story as short as possible. We had to remove the parts we wrote that we liked so much 😕. But no matter how hard it was, it was all worth it when we saw the results 😄 .

There are many advantages to making a podcast.  It can benefit students' creativity.  It also allows them to learn some digital literacies. It also improves students' collaborative working skills.

"Unlocking Complexity: The Power of Infographic"

Ahoy, my fabulous readers 😃👋! Welcome back to my post. This week, slightly different from previous ones, you will see an infographic about plagiarism prepared by me. Yes, you read it right, I prepared the infographic on my own 😎💪. You will read a post about what infographic is and what I went through while preparing infographics and where infographics can be used efficiently.

Initially, let me explain what an infographic is. An infographic is a visual tool that uses images, graphs, and text to simplify complex information so that people can better understand and remember it. For these purposes, I have prepared an infographic for you that contains some information about plagiarism. Was it really suitable for the purposes I mentioned earlier❓

I would like to tell you a little about my infographic-making process. To be honest, when I heard the term "infographic", I was a little scared at first 😨 because this was the first time I had encountered such a term. The most difficult part for me, and I think for others as well, was choosing the appropriate theme for the topic and designing it in a way that was not too distracting but interesting. By the way, I used Canva and it was easy to create infographics from there. At the end of the day, I enjoyed the process very much.  I also feel very confident having learned to do something like this.    

                                     
Infographic is a very useful tool as it summarizes the topics nicely and provides information without boring the students. Especially in language teaching classes. It can be used in vocabulary teaching, which is similar to peripheral learning. Peripheral learning is where students learn from what is present in the environment even if their attention is not directed to it.

"21st Century Learning: Where Comfort Meets Knowledge!"

 Today's learning  is different from how it used to be. The reason for this situation is mostly due to developments in technology. As technology develops, it enables us to access information more easily through various means such as the internet, and helps us keep up with the constantly changing world in many ways. This situation is called 21st century learning. 21st century learning refers to the modern approach to education that emphasizes the development of skills, knowledge and competencies relevant to the demands of the 21st century.  It covers a variety of educational strategies, methodologies, and technologies aimed at preparing students for success in today's world . For example, 21st century learning is crucial to language learning in today's interconnected world. Proficiency in more than one language is becoming increasingly valuable as the Internet makes it possible to communicate and collaborate with people with different native languages. Considering these factors, students have different expectations depending on educational developments in language learning, and educators need to integrate these expectations with their pedagogical goals to provide students with effective and meaningful learning experiences. In doing this, teachers can use some authentic materials so that students can improve their language skills by being exposed to native speakers and their works. In addition, students can easily access these materials on their own through different applications or podcasts, and they can also find content on any subject they are interested in. What a comfort! Language learning is just one example of the learning impacts of the 21st century;  There are many more like this such as information, media and technology skills, life and career skills, learning and innovation skills and so on but that's all for today, stay tuned for more.😃
